NAKIVO Releases v7.1 with Support for Hyper-V Failover Clusters for VM Backup

NAKIVO Backup Replication v7.1 now supports Microsoft Hyper-V
Failover Clusters, which can be selected for VM backup.

Campbell, CA, United States — May 30, 2017

NAKIVO Inc., a fast-growing software company for protecting virtualized and cloud environments announced today that it has released NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.1, which provides support for Hyper-V Failover Clusters.

A Hyper-V Failover Cluster is a group of Hyper-V servers (nodes) that can use the Live Migration technology to move live VMs between nodes in the cluster without downtime.
Hyper-V Failover Clusters help improve availability and efficiency of the virtualized environment. If one cluster node fails, its VMs can be automatically started on a different cluster node. In addition, VMs in the cluster can be moved between nodes both manually and by Microsoft’s System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) Dynamic Optimization feature that can automatically move VMs to distribute the load evenly between nodes. NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.1 can track the VM location in the cluster and can continue to protect the VM regardless on which cluster node the VM is located.

As virtual environments change rapidly and new VMs are created on a daily basis, chasing and protecting those new VMs becomes a challenge. As a result, some VMs become unprotected and their data can be irreversibly lost. To solve this problem, NAKIVO Backup & Replication offers the container protection feature: Customers can add an entire Hyper-V Failover Cluster to VM backup and replication jobs. When an entire Failover Cluster is protected, NAKIVO Backup Replication will monitor the cluster contents and will automatically add all new VMs in the Failover Cluster to the job. This way, all important VMs will always be protected.

The new v7.1 release demonstrates our commitment to improve the support for Microsoft Hyper-V, which we have added to NAKIVO Backup Replication in Q1 2017, said Bruce Talley, CEO of NAKIVO, Inc. We see a great demand for a fast, reliable, ad affordable data protection solution for Hyper-V environments from our customers and partners, and NAKIVO Backup  Replication delivers on those demands.

Named “Top 20 Coolest Cloud Computing Vendors of 2016” by CRN, NAKIVO provides a better way for SMBs, enterprises, and cloud providers to protect and recover their virtualized and cloud environments more reliably, efficiently, and cost effectively.
NAKIVO Backup & Replication supports VMware, Hyper-V, and AWS EC2 environments and offers advanced features that increase VM backup performance, improve reliability, speed up recovery, and help save time and money. NAKIVO Backup Replication provides:

Proper backups: Native, agentless, image-based, application-aware VM backup and replication

Upcoming v7.2 for AWS, VMware, and

The upcoming NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.2, scheduled for release in early

Q3 will add great new features for AWS, VMware, and Hyper-V backup and

    recovery.

Campbell, CA, United States — June 19, 2017

NAKIVO Inc., a fast-growing software company for protecting virtualized and cloud environments, announced today new

features in the upcoming NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.2:

Asustor NAS Support: NAKIVO Backup & Replication can already be deployed on a variety of platforms, including

Windows, Linux, VMware VA, AWS AMI, as well as QNAP, WD, and Synology NAS. The new v7.2 will allow installing

NAKIVO Backup & Replication on x86 Asustor NAS, which will turn the NAS into a high-performance VM backup

appliance that combines backup software, backup hardware, backup storage and data deduplication in a single cost-

    effective device.

Log Truncation for Microsoft SQL: While NAKIVO Backup & Replication already provides log truncation for Microsoft

Exchange, the upcoming v7.2 will extend the log truncation support to Microsoft SQL Server. With this feature, NAKIVO

Backup & Replication will be able to automatically delete SQL transaction log files that could otherwise fill up all the free

space and crash the entire server.

Instant Object Recovery to Source for Microsoft SQL: The upcoming v7.2 will also provide the ability to instantly recover

Microsoft SQL server objects, such as databases and tables. The recovery will be performed directly from the

compressed and deduplicated VM backup, without the need to recover an entire VM first. V7.2 will provide several

recovery options: recovery directly to the source SQL server, a different SQL server, or export of objects to a custom

    location.

Calendar Dashboard: For large environments with thousands of VMs, scheduling data protection jobs and finding free

slots in the backup window can be a challenge. NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.2 will improve job scheduling by

introducing the new Calendar dashboard, which will display all jobs and their predicted duration in a calendar view

(much like meetings in a calendar application), as well as allow to create new and manage existing jobs.

Flexible Job Scheduling: The new v7.2 will also improve job scheduling by allowing to add multiple schedules for a single

job. This way, it will be possible to schedule a single job to run at different times, as required by the business needs.

who fulfill the Beta program requirements will receive a gift card.

"The upcoming features are aimed at improving various aspects of virtualization data protection. The addition of the

ASUSTOR NAS will further extend our platform support and allow our customers to leverage their existing investment in

hardware for creating a reliable and high-performance VM backup appliance. The Microsoft SQL log truncation and

object recovery features will help improve the SQL server administration, uptime, and operational recovery. Customers

with larger environments will appreciate the Calendar dashboard, which will help them better manage data protection

jobs and backup windows," said Bruce Talley, CEO of NAKIVO, Inc.
